Role Summary and Impact
WPP Media Hong Kong is seeking a motivated, analytical, and curious Associate, Data Engineering to join our team. In this role, you will support the team in building, maintaining, and optimizing the critical data pipelines, architectures, and data models that power WPP's analytics and business decision-making. Core Responsibilities
Pipeline Development & Maintenance:Support the design, development, and monitoring of robust data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows to consolidate data from diverse media platforms.
Database & Transformation Optimization:Develop, optimize, and maintain high-performing SQL queries, database views, and automated data transformations.
Data Integration:Assist in integrating data from multiple primary sources into our central enterprise data platforms.
Data Quality & Governance:Actively validate data integrity, troubleshoot data failures, and investigate data quality issues to maintain high trust in our analytical tools.
Process Documentation:Clearly document data flows, technical processes, and business logic rules.
Stakeholder Collaboration:Collaborate effectively with both technical (analysts, developers, architects) and business stakeholders to translate requirements into reliable technical data solutions.
Task Ownership:Take proactive ownership of small-to-medium data engineering tasks and technical projects, managing them from planning to successful delivery.

Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related quantitative/technical discipline.
1 to 2 years of relevant experience in data engineering, with strong, hands‑on SQL proficiency and a deep conceptual understanding of relational databases. Fresh graduates with internships, university capstone projects, or personal projects involving data engineering or data analytics are also welcome.
Solid foundational knowledge of data warehousing, ETL/ELT concepts, data modeling fundamental, and data quality practices.
Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail.
Good communication skills and a highly collaborative approach to working within cross‑functional teams.
An eagerness to learn and rapidly adopt modern data engineering practices, cloud tools, and frameworks.
Fluency in spoken and written English, Cantonese, and Mandarin
Desired Skills & Experience
Basic scripting and development skills in Python or a similar programming language.
Familiarity withGitor standard version control systems.
Basic exposure to cloud ecosystems such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Azure, or AWS.
Familiarity with modern data stack architectures or tools (e.g., dbt, BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks).
Conceptual or practical experience with BI tools (such as Power BI or Tableau).
