Position overview:

The Associate Designer will be responsible for working and supporting the Head of Workplace in delivering corporate projects. Specifically, they will be responsible for the design, implementation, and delivery of new projects by managing the team and working closely with clients. The Associate Designer will be expected to successfully deliver each project to specification, following cost and programme, and with profit.

Key responsibilities:

  • Take responsibility for the development of the design and the project with input from the Head of Workplace for key project stages
  • Prepare, collate, and develop with the team when required conceptual designs, technical drawings, 3D models, presentations, mood boards, finishes boards and other documents relating to interior design
  • Conduct programming efforts such as space planning, layout and utilization of furnishings and equipment
  • Develop innovative design concepts which are functional, safe and conducive to intended purposes and function which is reflective of client goals within project budget and timescales
  • Responsible for selection and specification of furniture, lighting, flooring, wall covering and artwork. Estimate material requirements and preliminary costs
  • Prepare and conduct client presentations
  • Assist in the preparation of bids and proposals
  • Liaise, where appropriate, with members of the external design team and other associated organizations to produce coordinated set of drawings
  • Assist leading the design team
  • Seek continuing professional development on their own merit
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of and compliance with JLL procedures and standards
  • Contribute, or otherwise assist, as required

Required skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design or related field
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience with at least 3 years in GCC region
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects valued at AED 500M+ in the UAE or GCC region
  • Experience in construction supervision

Desired skills and competencies:

  • Extensive experience in corporate interiors
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of workplace strategic processes with an interior design background
  • Ability to understand and lead all design stages
  • Strong architectural technical skills
  • Strong leadership skills to assist leading the team
  • Basic understanding of MEP systems to conduct coordination of workshops and meetings throughout the life cycle of the project
  • Ability to understand and formulate design decisions and present for discussion
  • Ability to use a variety of creative media in the development and documentation of a design project
  • Clear understanding of project resourcing, profits and margins
