Collins Aerospace is seeking an experienced business development professional to serve as Associate Director, Business Development within the Landing Systems business. This role will lead business development for the Power Transmission Systems (PTS) portfolio in Rome, New York, with primary responsibility for developing and executing growth strategies for advanced drive system products and technologies across military, commercial aerospace, and industrial markets.

The successful candidate will identify, shape, and capture new opportunities to grow Collins' drive systems business, with particular focus on rotorcraft and advanced vertical lift applications, including conventional and tiltrotor platforms, lift-fan systems, power-takeoff (PTO) shafts, and related drive system technologies.

As the lead business development professional for PTS, this position will develop market and customer strategies, shape complex pursuits, establish relationships with key customers and partners, and lead cross-functional teams through opportunity development and capture.

In addition to primary responsibility for Power Transmission Systems, this position will support business development activities across the broader Landing Systems portfolio, including Landing Gear and Wheels & Brakes.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and execute business development and growth strategies for Power Transmission Systems with direct impact on long-term business results

  • Identify, shape, and capture new opportunities for drive system products and technologies across rotorcraft and advanced vertical lift applications, including conventional and tiltrotor platforms, lift-fan systems, PTO shafts, and related power transmission applications

  • Support opportunity vetting and governance for the Rome, NY site through the RLPM gated process; maintain opportunity data and pipeline visibility in Salesforce and support site requirements, long-range planning, and forecasting

  • Develop a strong understanding of customer requirements, emerging rotorcraft and propulsion architectures, technology roadmaps, competitive dynamics, and future platform needs to identify and shape new business opportunities

  • Build and maintain relationships with aerospace and defense OEMs, primes, government customers, and strategic partners, serving as a lead business development interface for complex and strategic pursuits

  • Lead early-stage opportunity shaping, customer engagement, capture strategy, competitive assessment, business case development, and major pursuit activities through proposal, negotiation, and contract award

  • Influence business and executive leadership on market strategy, customer engagement, competitive positioning, investment priorities, and pursuit decisions

  • Partner with Engineering, Program Management, Operations, Finance, Contracts, and other functions to develop customer solutions and executable pursuit strategies

  • Identify and pursue U.S. Government-funded opportunities supporting technology maturation, demonstration, qualification, and production readiness

  • Develop and manage the PTS new-business pipeline and provide leadership visibility into opportunity status, customer priorities, competitive dynamics, and recommended actions

  • Support customer engagement, opportunity development, and capture activities for Collins Aerospace Landing Gear and Wheels & Brakes businesses as required

  • Represent Collins Aerospace with customers, industry partners, government organizations, and at relevant industry events and trade shows

  • Travel up to 30% to support customer engagement, industry events, business development activities, and onsite requirements

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience

  • Experience in aerospace and defense business development, capture, or strategic growth

  • Experience developing and executing new-market growth strategies




Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with rotorcraft, drive systems, transmissions, gearboxes, propulsion systems, mechanical power transmission, or related aerospace technologies

  • Knowledge of conventional rotorcraft, tiltrotor, advanced vertical lift, lift-fan, PTO shaft, or related drive system architectures

  • Experience developing new aerospace and defense applications and shaping opportunities for emerging technologies

  • Familiarity with U.S. Government acquisition, contracting, and R&D processes

  • Established relationships with aerospace and defense OEMs, primes, rotorcraft manufacturers, propulsion system OEMs, or government customers

  • Experience with aerospace Landing Gear, Wheels & Brakes, or related Landing Systems products

The salary range for this role is 157,200 USD - 298,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
