Position: Associate Director, Graphic Design, HF

Department: Marketing

Work Location: Bend, OR, Hybrid (work 3 days onsite)

Hybrid Schedule: At Helen of Troy, we embrace a flexible hybrid work model designed to support collaboration and productivity. For roles eligible for hybrid work, our standard schedule includes in-office collaboration from Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. What you will be doing:

We are seeking an Associate Design Director to help shape and elevate our brand across physical, digital, retail, and campaign touchpoints. This position will work within multiple areas, playing an essential role in the creative look and feel of our marketing efforts through design and art direction that supports the brand. This role combines exceptional design craft with strategic thinking, translating brand vision into compelling visual storytelling that resonates with consumers globally.

Creative Concepting & Design Leadership

  • Lead internal concepting and design in order to deliver engaging, on-brand marketing assets (digital/print/photo/video/experience).

  • Lead design projects from concept through final execution, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship at every stage.

  • Translate consumer insights, cultural trends, and business objectives into compelling creative solutions.

  • Work with internal teams (marketing, eComm, Retail, Product, Tradeshow, Social Media) to concept and create engaging and on-brand marketing collateral.

  • Lead internal ideation meetings.

  • Work with outside agencies to shape stories and maintain brand consistency.

  • Collaborate with third party vendors to concept and complete creative marketing assets.

  • Work closely with production designer to achieve on-time project delivery and efficiency.

  • Attend weekly internal project meetings and maintain status report tracking for all deliverables.

Brand Management

  • Ensure that creative adheres to brand guidelines.

  • Lead brand-appropriate design for all internal projects.

Production Design Support

  • Assist with production design, as needed.

  • Recommend brand asset updates and usage guidelines.

  • File System management.

Production Assistance

  • Support production of digital and print creative assets.

  • Assist with vendor selection, production processes and proofing/press checks (on-site assistance, as needed).

  • Engage with vendors to concept and fulfill creative project requests.

Mentor Junior Designers

  • Contribute to a culture of creative excellence.

  • Review design work.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Visual Communications, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

  • 10+ years of professional graphic design experience at an agency or in-house creative team.

  • Exceptional portfolio demonstrates strong conceptual thinking and visual execution.

  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).

  • Proficiency in Figma.

  • Experience designing across multiple mediums including digital, print, retail, environmental graphics, packaging, and social content.

  • Strong understanding of typography, composition, color, and visual storytelling.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with global consumer brands.

  • Consumer-facing product brand and/or lifestyle brand experience.

  • Motion design, After Effects, or 3D visualization skills.

  • Background in Apparel, footwear, consumer products, sports, lifestyle, or fashion brands.

  • Understanding of retail environments and experiential design.

  • Knowledge of production processes across print, packaging, and environmental graphics.

  • Passion for sport, culture, fashion, music, and emerging creative trends.
