Associate Director of Development, Institutional Giving

The Associate Director of Development, Institutional Giving (ADODIG) develops and implements an effective, comprehensive and ongoing foundation, corporate, and government funding program on behalf of Children’s Theatre Company. Responsibilities include identification of prospects, grants proposal development and submission, grants administration, and stewardship of government, foundation, and corporate foundation gifts. This position develops annual and long-range plans for securing corporate, foundation and government grants and gifts, and maintains a successful corporate, foundation, and government solicitation program. Cultivates prospects and maintains positive partner relationships with foundation representatives and corporate executives.

The position personally develops and manages a portfolio of government, corporate, and foundation prospects and donors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Identify, evaluate, cultivate and solicit prospective foundation, corporate foundation, and government sources for gifts to CTC’s annual fund.
  • Develop annual fundraising and strategic goals for foundation, corporate, and government grants and sponsorships.
  • Manage a portfolio of corporate, government and foundation prospects, including developing strategies, proactively communicating with donors and prospects to build relationships and secure grants (often face-to-face), writing proposals, engaging and supporting board and staff in the solicitation process, and stewarding donors.
  • Lead the development and execution of government, foundation and corporate grants.
  • Collaborate with CTC leadership staff and partner corporations to identify and connect candidates for CTC’s Board of Governors.
  • Monitor industry trends and organizational progress, assess new opportunities, and develop strategic recommendations for CTC leadership.
  • Monitor and report on progress toward institutional fundraising goals.
  • Engage board members and CTC staff in activities to support prospecting or soliciting corporations and foundations.
  • Attend committee meetings of the Board of Directors as needed.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Finance and program managers, create standard program budgets and descriptions for use by the development office and the theatre at large.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of the annual Curtain Call Ball, corporate events, and other stewardship and cultivation events as needed.
  • Serve as a member of the overall development team by collaborating with colleagues across disciplines on donor strategies.
  • File timely contact reports, maintain accurate records, and provide updated information for solicitation planning, tracking, and database reporting as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain annual institutional giving workflow with all workplans/deadlines articulated in database.
  • Serve on internal committees and attend staff meetings as directed.
  • Accept and implement other specific assignments as directed, including endowment campaign responsibilities and other off-budget projects that advance the mission of the theatre as required.
  • Collect comprehensive institutional data on numbers served and activities delivered at fiscal year-end. Collect and analyze program and participant data on an ongoing basis.
  • Own and maintain the organization’s boilerplate language (style guide, common grant app, etc.) and quantitative and qualitative metrics.
