Associate General Counsel, Commercial @ Meter

Making the Internet a Utility

Enabling Seamless, Reliable Connectivity for Every Business

Meter is seeking a Regulatory Counsel to help shape the future of enterprise internet infrastructure. As Meter designs, builds, and operates secure, enterprise-grade networks for businesses worldwide, this founding legal role is critical to enabling responsible, rapid expansion across new markets and regulatory environments.

Reporting to the General Counsel, the Regulatory Counsel will guide Meter’s entry into new jurisdictions as an ISP, develop and manage international risk compliance programs, and advise on data privacy, AI, and product compliance. The role spans telecom, hardware, software, and real estate regulatory matters, offering broad scope and the opportunity to build foundational processes from the ground up.

Key responsibilities include leading Meter’s telecom legal strategy across the US, Canada, UK, EU, Australia, and beyond; building compliance programs for FCPA, export controls, CFIUS, and sanctions; advising on GDPR, CCPA, and privacy-by-design initiatives; supporting marketing, product, and engineering teams on regulatory and safety matters; and partnering with People and Facilities on employment and safety compliance.

The ideal candidate brings a J.D. from a top law school, in-house regulatory experience, and membership in good standing with at least one state bar. This is a rare opportunity to join a small, rigorous legal team at a pivotal stage, with significant autonomy and the chance to shape Meter’s regulatory strategy as the company grows.
