Associate, Global Social Media (External Agency Staff)
The Associate, Global Social Media role will temporarily oversee the NFL’s social media ecosystem, driving daily content, long-term strategy, and revenue-generating opportunities across all platforms. It leads cross-functional collaboration, manages teams and partners, and guides social strategy for major tentpole events and emerging platforms. Ultimately, the position ensures the NFL stays culturally relevant, data-driven, revenue-focused and maximizing innovative in the social space. Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day content and programming on the NFL’s owned social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter/X, TikTok, Reddit, Snapchat, Threads, Facebook, etc)
- Work alongside social programming leads to drive ideation and execution of editorial and marketing calendars
- Play critical role in managing the NFL’s “always on” social strategies – responsible for managing the 24/7 news cycle and editorial processes
- Collaborate with internal teams to support social monetization processes -- from pitching, communications, approvals and execution working with the Sales/Sponsorship teams, clients, and creative teams
- Support year-round, youth-focused content strategies to support various initiatives throughout the NFL ecosystem
- Collaborate closely with other internal stakeholders to ideate and execute around tent pole events (ex. Thanksgiving, Super Bowl, etc)
- Work alongside influencer, collegiate, and club social teams to share best practices and create innovative experiences
- Continuously improve by capturing and analyzing the appropriate social data/metrics and implementing changes as necessary
- Constantly staying ahead of the latest trends throughout the social space
- Work closely and build relationships directly with social platform partners
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience managing social channels for a major brand
- Ability to work well under tight deadlines and thrive in the "always-on", 24/7 NFL news cycle
- Strong eye for social-friendly content, with ability to understand what will perform well
- Experience using photo and video editing software (ex. Adobe Creative Suite)
- Comprehensive knowledge of the NFL, all 32 teams, and players across the league
- Expert-level understanding of current and emerging social platforms
- Experience working with social analytics
- Strong communication and organization skills
- Comfortable multi-tasking independently
- Ability to work nights, weekends, early mornings, and holidays
- Thrive in a team setting where it is required to work and interact with several different departments on a daily basis
Other Key Attributes / Characteristics
- Bachelor's degree
- 5+ years’ experience in a social media role
- Previous experience leading a content team
- Previous NFL work experience is preferred
- Basic video + photo editing experience
- Building presentations and materials for internal distribution
Terms /Expected Hours of Work
- Up to 3 months based on business needs
- This job posting is for a position with one of the NFL’s third-party agency partners that provides services to the NFL. The individual selected for this role will be an employee of that third-party agency and not the NFL. All compensation, benefits, and other terms and conditions of employment are handled by the agency. The assignment to provide services to the NFL will be limited in duration but may be extended for an additional period by agreement between the NFL and the agency.
