Associate - Green Skilling
Swaniti Initiative is a social enterprise that is
working at the intersection of climate, governance and last mile delivery. We
believe that while the willingness and resources exist, there are fundamental
gaps in the execution within communities that is the biggest crisis in the
climate movement. Accordingly, Swaniti works with subnational governments to
conduct microplanning exercises with consultations with community and key
stakeholders to understand the pathways forward, provide technical assistance
to subnational governments to provide support in program implementation and
support in monitoring and delivery of programs. A significant focus of our work
within climate and governance is on preparing the private sector and
communities for the energy transition. Therefore, green skilling becomes key to
our work. We are working with key industry players and communities to map out the
opportunities and gaps around the skilling ecosystem. This has included
providing technical assistance to subnational on policy support for providing
skilling. Accordingly, Swaniti is looking to build up its team around green
skilling and is looking for experienced professionals working on the
intersection for the same.
Job Overview:
We are looking for an experienced professional who is
keen on taking up the role in a project focused on green skilling. The
professional will be expected to further Swaniti’s vision on understanding the
gaps and opportunities on green skilling and then work with state governments
on operationalizing them. The current areas of “green skilling” include solar,
hydro, geothermal, wind and domestic waste management. Given the
technical requirements of the space, the following qualities would be favourably
looked upon for the candidate.
- The candidate must have demonstrated experience in the
skills sector. This can include conducting skill assessments, working with
skilling departments, and managing skilling work.
- Past
experiences of working on sustainability and climate would be favourably looked
upon, including on state and central government initiative.
- Demonstrated experience of working with
state/central government would be advantageous
- A strong
understanding of the skilling ecosystem would support the candidacy.
- Strong
efficiency in conducting on-field surveys, FGDs s and household interviews
Requirements
We are
looking for Associates who can support in a.) ground level analysis through
primary data and research, b.) assistance to state governments on policy
planning and program identification and c.) requisite monitoring and program
implementation support on ground. Therefore, the Associate will be working as
part of a larger team to be able to -
- Develop
high-quality research documents, along with need assessment, situation
analysis, data analysis, brainstorming with relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinate, manage, and draft a comprehensive
research paper on community readiness for green skilling.
- The
Associate will be expected to come up with critical research inputs and support
in policy formulation document.
- Work
with the state administration to operationalize the feedback that is being
collected within communities.
- Organize and execute events,
seminars, and roundtable discussions, etc., that are needed for the green-skilling
process.
- Provide any additional support to
build out capabilities around green skilling.
- Conduct on field surveys and analyse
large-scale data sets
Qualifications-
- Candidates
must have at least 2-3 years of experience working in skilling, energy and
livelihoods
- Prior
experience in handling large-scale government data sets and working with state
departments
- A post-graduate
degree in any field with a preference for those possessing a degree in
environment, climate and sustainability, energy, skilling related field, etc.,
is strongly preferred.
- Prior
experience working with government and grassroots organizations in the space of
skilling and livelihoods
- Proficiency in Telugu (spoken)
will be preferred, as the role involves engagement with stakeholders in the
Andhra Pradesh region.
