Job Overview:

The Associate Instrumentation & Controls Engineer is responsible for basic instrumentation engineering design, analysis and development of an assigned scope of work on a McDermott project. Work includes (but not limited to) P&ID development along with associated instrument index maintenance, instrument data sheet and calculation development and supplier document review of vendor packages.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the development of key project deliverables, including (but not limited to) the following:
    • Vessel Level Sketches
    • Instrument Index
    • Instrument Data Sheets
    • Instrument Calculations (i.e. Valves, Flowmeters, etc.)
    • P&ID Development
  • Participate in project reviews, including (but not limited to) the following:
    • P&ID Reviews
  • Development and support of vendor packages, including (but not limited to) the following:
    • Create requisition packages for basic instrumentation
    • Perform the review of supplier documents for basic instrumentation and mechanical packages
  • Site support, including (but not limited to) the following:
    • Provide technical support to Construction personnel for I&C engineering related inquiries as needed

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Accredited engineering degree may be required by specific regions
  • Typically 0 - 1 years of I&C engineering experience
  • Working knowledge of the content and application of standards, codes and guidelines, including IEC, ISA, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, ANSI and API
  • Experience with Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI), InstruCalc, MS Office Suite including Excel and Word

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

  • BSEE, BSCE or BSME degree is preferred
  • Experience at site during construction and commissioning is preferred
