The Associate Product Manager (APM) is a key contributor to the Product Management team and is responsible for leading cross-functional teams in the planning, execution, and analysis of various business initiatives. This role carries P&L responsibility and includes the development of strategic business and marketing plans to achieve corporate and product volume, profit, and market share objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the Product Manager in achieving volume and profit objectives for assigned categories that align with overall corporate goals.
Execute business plans effectively to deliver category financial and market share objectives.
Monitor performance metrics to ensure categories are tracking against goals and recommend and implement corrective actions as needed.
Analyze data to identify insights and translate findings into business initiatives and actionable tasks that drive results.
Lead and participate in the development and execution of product and packaging plans, including:
Concept development
Feasibility validation
Product and packaging research and development (R&D)
Business proposal development and approval
Project execution
Customer sell-in activities
Tracking and evaluation of in-market performance
Participate in monthly volume forecasting for assigned categories, coordinating with demand and supply planning teams to achieve best-in-class forecast accuracy.
Implement product specification changes.
Monitor production, inventory, and packaging levels of key items.
Manage customer calendars to ensure deadlines and deliverables are met.
Develop a strong understanding of Tyson systems, processes, and customer packaging development systems.
Lead and engage cross-functional teams on assigned projects.
Participate in customer sales calls and meetings.
Monitor industry trends, market share performance, and competitive activity.
Partner closely with Customer Marketing to develop category selling tools and execute promotional initiatives and sales communications.
Collaborate with customer business teams to develop and execute customer plans, including concept development, feasibility validation, product and packaging R&D, business proposal development and approval, project execution, customer sell-in activities, and tracking of in-market performance.
Work closely with the Sales organization to understand and integrate customer strategies into business and brand plans.
Proactively partner with Sales Strategy and Planning teams to improve forecast accuracy, maximize opportunities, and develop plans that achieve business objectives.
Requirements
Education
Bachelor's degree required.
MBA preferred.
Experience
Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience required.
Computer Skills
Basic computer skills required.
Communication Skills
Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills required.
Special Skills
Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and lead cross-functional teams.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects successfully in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
