Associate Manager - Supply Chain - Export/Import
Description
What You'll Do:
- Build forward shipment plans from confirmed and expected orders. Align supplier readiness, documentation, payment terms and logistics slots before they become bottlenecks.
- When a vessel is delayed, a document is missing or a supplier slips, re-plan quickly. Find the next-best route, timeline or workaround and keep the customer informed.
- Maintain a live view of every shipment, including status, timelines, risks and next actions.
Own fulfilment end to end:
- Exports: Take every order from closure to dispatch and customs clearance, meeting each customer's shipment-level requirements.
- Imports: Coordinate with overseas suppliers, track inbound shipments and ensure goods are cleared and received on time.
- Own the outcome of every shipment. If a shipment is delayed, understand why, raise it early and drive it to closure.
Coordinate across teams:
- Be the link between Demand, Supply, Logistics, Fulfilment, and Finance to ensure every shipment moves as planned.
- Coordinate order closure and customer requirements, supplier fulfilment, on-time movement of goods, payment security, advances, payments and receivables.
- Be the single point of contact for EXIM status across all teams.
Identify and resolve critical blockers:
- Spot the few things that will make or break a shipment, whether it's a document, payment, supplier or booking.
- Raise blockers early, push them to closure and prioritise shipments that are at risk.
Maintain documentation and build processes:
- Ensure import, export and hazardous-cargo documents are complete and ready for customs clearance.
- Create the checklists, trackers and SOPs that make EXIM predictable.
- Turn recurring problems into processes.
Key Requirements:
- Customer satisfaction comes first: Measure success by on-time delivery and customers who never have to chase us for shipment updates.
- Strong stakeholder management: Align Demand, Supply, Logistics, Finance, suppliers and freight partners, drive timelines firmly and keep relationships intact.
- Attention to detail: Catch incorrect documents, missed payment terms and customer specific requirements before they cause delays.
- Ownership of fulfilment: Take every shipment from order closure to delivery and remain accountable for the outcome.
- Planning ahead and reacting fast: Build forward shipment plans and re-plan quickly when something breaks.
- Spotting what's critical: Identify blockers early, raise them and drive them to closure.
- Experience: 1-4 years in supply chain, operations, program management or a similar role. EXIM experience is a plus, not a must.
- EXIM knowledge: Understanding of import and export processes and payment terms is helpful. If you're new to EXIM, you should be keen to learn it quickly.
