Associate Pricing Analyst
Summary
Develops and optimizes pricing models for motor insurance products using predictive analytics, SQL, and statistical tools like Python/R/SAS, collaborating with underwriting, finance, and product teams to drive data-driven pricing decisions and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare, cleanse and validate large datasets to support predictive modelling and retail pricing activities, ensuring data quality, accuracy and integrity.
- Analyse complex data to identify trends, risk factors and performance insights that influence motor insurance pricing decisions.
- Support the development, enhancement and optimisation of predictive pricing models, working closely with Senior Analysts to ensure robust and effective solutions.
- Assist with model testing, validation and performance monitoring, identifying opportunities for improvement and recommending enhancements where appropriate.
- Take ownership of allocated analytical and modelling workstreams, delivering high-quality outputs from planning through to implementation and ongoing monitoring.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the business, providing clear and actionable insights to support commercial decision-making.
- Collaborate with underwriting, finance, product and pricing teams to develop and evolve retail pricing strategies and optimisation frameworks.
- Produce high-quality reports, analysis and documentation, presenting findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Keep up to date with industry developments, regulatory changes and advancements in analytics, data science and pricing methodologies, applying new knowledge to improve outcomes.
- Proactively identify, manage and mitigate risks within day-to-day activities and responsibilities.
- Act with integrity and ensure compliance with FCA regulations and internal governance requirements, always delivering fair customer outcomes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and generate actionable insights.
- Experience using data analysis and statistical modelling tools such as Python, R, SAS or similar technologies.
- Good understanding of predictive modelling techniques and actuarial principles within a pricing or analytics environment.
- Experience working with large datasets, including data preparation, manipulation and analysis. Knowledge of SQL and Snowflake would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with pricing and modelling tools such as Radar and Emblem is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise information for a range of stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring high levels of accuracy in analysis, modelling and reporting.
- Ability to produce clear, well-structured documentation and present findings confidently to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate across cross-functional teams.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work to deadlines.
- Self-motivated and proactive, demonstrating initiative, sound judgement and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
