Associate Product Manager
Description
Position Summary
The Associate Product Manager joins the Product & Engineering organization and works alongside experienced Product Managers to turn what weavix hears from the field into features that ship. This is a hands-on role built to grow into a full Product Manager position. The role owns well-scoped features end to end, keeps engineering unblocked, and ensures every release lands cleanly with customers, Customer Success, and Sales. The team works AI-first, using AI daily to research, write, and build working prototypes that show engineering exactly what to build.
Key Responsibilities
Customer & Field Insight
- Join customer calls, site visits, and ride-alongs with Customer Success and Field Solutions to see how crews use Walt on plant floors and job sites.
- Turn field tickets, support trends, usage data, and sales feedback into clear problem statements the team can prioritize.
- Track competing radio and frontline communication products and summarize what matters for the roadmap.
Execution & Engineering Alignment
- Write user stories, acceptance criteria, and lightweight specs for owned features, and keep them current in Jira.
- Attend Scrum ceremonies with the assigned pod, answer product questions quickly, and escalate trade-offs to the Product Team and the Engineering Manager before they affect a milestone.
- Understand how each feature touches Walt firmware, Cloud, Mobile, and Data so nothing ships half-integrated.
- Test features in development, join QA reviews, and confirm that what shipped matches what the customer needed.
Launch & Adoption
- Prepare release notes, internal enablement, and FAQs for features as they are released.
- Partner with Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success so they can explain and sell what ships.
- Define success metrics with the Product Manager and report on adoption after launch.
AI-Powered Product Work
- Use AI tools to research customers, markets, and competitors, synthesize field feedback, and draft PRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria; validate the output and own the final document.
- Build clickable or working prototypes of specific features with AI coding and design tools, such as Claude Code, to test ideas before engineering commits.
- Package each prototype with the user flow, features demonstrated, acceptance criteria, edge cases, and known gaps so engineers can build the production version without guesswork.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years in product management, business analysis, QA, software engineering, technical support, solutions consulting, or a similar role.
- Technical fluency: understands the basics of how software is built, tested, and released, and is comfortable reading API documentation or asking engineers the right follow-up questions.
- Clear writing: able to write a user story, a release note, and a short decision memo that people read.
- Analytical habits: comfortable pulling and interpreting data; SQL is a plus.
- AI fluency: demonstrated history of using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar) daily to research, write, and analyze, with the judgment to check AI output for accuracy.
- Able to build a working prototype of a feature with AI-assisted coding or design tools.
- Follows through without being chased, raises risks early, and stays calm when priorities shift.
- Willing to travel to customer sites (manufacturing plants, job sites, distribution centers) up to 25% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in industrial or frontline sectors (manufacturing, construction, logistics, oil and gas), or firsthand familiarity with how work gets done on a plant floor or job site.
- Exposure to products that combine hardware and software, or to IoT, telecom, or mobile apps.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar tools, and with Agile/Scrum teams.
- Familiarity with enterprise B2B SaaS concepts such as SSO, admin permissions, APIs, and integrations.
- Bilingual, especially in Spanish.
- Side projects or internal tools built with AI coding assistants, or working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or React.
- Experience prompting LLM APIs or shipping simple AI-powered features.
