Associate (Project-based Employment)
Summary
Performs daily cash and positions reconciliations for investment accounts, ensuring accuracy between internal records and custodian data while supporting month-end close processes in a financial operations role.
Operations is responsible for supporting the various trading, investment and reporting activities of the firm. The core mission of the Operations group is to establish scalable investment workflows, ensure a controlled operating environment and deliver high-quality client service to both internal and external business relationships. In addition to supporting primary investment related activities, the groups assist in the design and implementation of firm-wide projects, operational due diligence, counterparty management and client-related activities.
Portfolio Accounting Team is the center of back-office operations wherein the team is responsible for supporting the various trading, investment, client, reporting and reconciliation activities of the firm. Specifically, reconciliation and reporting include cash reconciliation, positions reconciliation, net-asset value reconciliation, performance and returns reconciliation.
The Portfolio Accounting team is divided into 2 main groups: Transaction level, and NAV Level.
Transaction Level is responsible for the daily cash and positions reconciliation of both non-derivative and derivative products as well as monthly equity swap settlements.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform daily cash reconciliations across assigned accounts, ensuring balances between internal records and custodian/bank statements are accurate and fully supported, and investigate and resolve any cash breaks in a timely manner by coordinating with internal teams, counterparties, and custodians as needed.
Conduct daily positions reconciliations by comparing internal portfolio accounting records against custodian records and external reports, and identify, analyze, and escalate any discrepancies, including trade settlement issues, corporate actions, pricing differences, and booking errors.
Monitor outstanding reconciliation items and follow through to resolution within established timelines.
Support month-end and period-end close processes related to reconciliation activities.
Ensure compliance with internal controls, operational procedures, and risk management guidelines.
Requirements
The candidate should have an understanding of general fund accounting
Excellent English, oral and written, communication skills.
High attention to detail
Can work with minimal supervision and deliver high quality output
Must be highly organized and with excellent multi-tasking skills and ability to prioritize activities effectively.
Must be proactive, motivated, detail-oriented, a team player and knows how to work with Service Level Agreements (SLA) and metrics.
The candidate should show the ability to use basic to intermediate formulas in excel
Education and Experience
Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's/College Degree in Financial Management, Economics, Accounting or other related business or financial course.
Open to fresh graduates; relevant internships or academic exposure to accounting, finance, or reconciliation processes is an advantage.
