Position Summary
This role is in person in our Carmel, IN office. GEMCO's Associate Project Manager – Electrical position is an early-career opportunity designed for new and recent graduates who want to build a career in construction project management.
Working alongside experienced Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and Estimators, you'll gain hands-on exposure to the full lifecycle of commercial and industrial electrical projects — from planning and procurement through construction, financial management, and closeout.
You'll learn the systems, financial skills, construction processes, and leadership capabilities needed to eventually manage projects of your own. This role is intended as a developmental pathway into a Project Manager position.
What You'll Do

Support Project Managers with project planning, coordination, execution, and closeout.

Work closely with field leadership to understand construction sequencing, manpower, productivity, and project challenges.

Participate in kickoff, progress, coordination, and customer meetings.

Maintain drawings, RFIs, submittals, schedules, meeting minutes, and other project documentation.

Prepare and track change orders, including labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor impacts.

Learn project financial management, including budgets, forecasting, cost tracking, billing, purchase orders, and Schedule of Values.

Coordinate material purchases, equipment rentals, vendors, subcontractors, and long-lead deliveries.

Monitor project schedules, costs, and milestones and help identify potential risks or delays.

Develop proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam Revu, and construction accounting software.

Assist with project closeout, including punch lists, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, warranties, and final documentation.

Develop working knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical systems, construction drawings, installation methods, and industry standards.
Who We're Looking For
This role is ideal for a new or recent graduate with a bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
Prior electrical construction experience is helpful but not required.
Successful candidates will bring strong communication and organizational skills, curiosity, attention to detail, comfort with technology, and an interest in both the operational and financial sides of construction.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who wants to learn, takes ownership, works well with both field and office teams, and is motivated to grow into increasing levels of project responsibility.
