Associate, Public Markets
Summary
Analyst builds and maintains earnings models from Japanese financial filings, conducts equity research, and engages with management in Japanese to support public market investments.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and maintain detailed earnings models using primary Japanese-language source documents (securities filings, earnings releases, investor materials).
- Conduct primary research on assigned coverage companies across multiple sectors.
- Participate in, and progressively take ownership of, management meetings conducted in Japanese.
- Contribute to investment theses, portfolio construction discussions, and investment committee materials and presentations in English.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
- 1–2 years of experience in investment research (buy-side or sell-side).
- Strong financial modeling skills; earnings model construction directly from Japanese-language source materials is non-negotiable.
- Japanese language fluency: spoken and culturally fluent, with sufficient reading ability to independently work through source documents and engage with management.
- Intellectual curiosity across industries; ability to identify patterns, apply frameworks, and learn unfamiliar business models quickly.
- Clear interest in long-term, fundamentals-driven public equity investing.
