Associate Quality Engineer- Temporary

Position Overview

We are seeking an agile, highly disciplined Associate Temporary Quality Engineer to immediately support our aerospace manufacturing and assembly operations for a 6-month contract assignment. As a short-term contractor, you will seamlessly integrate into our production environment to ensure all components, assemblies, and documentation strictly adhere to AS9100 Rev D regulatory standards.

This role requires immediate day-one productivity in First Article Inspections (FAI), blueprint interpretation, and material non-conformance tracking. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of adapting quickly to new digital enterprise systems and possesses the technical confidence to enforce strict quality benchmarks on the shop floor.

Key Responsibilities & Day-One Deliverables

• First Article Inspections (FAI): Independently author, review, and compile AS9102-compliant FAI documentation (Forms 1, 2, and 3) manually or utilizing aerospace quality software.

• Non-Conformance Management: Identify, isolate, and generate accurate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) or Discrepancy Reports (DRs) for non-compliant materials, ensuring proper segregation on the floor.

• Floor Inspection Support: Use standard mechanical inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges) to verify physical part dimensions against engineering drawings.

• FOD Control & Safety Enforcement: Actively monitor and enforce (Foreign Object Debris/Damage) prevention protocols across assembly areas.

• Escalation & Collaboration: Partner closely with manufacturing teams and senior quality engineering staff to provide rapid documentation support for root cause investigations (5 Whys / Fishbone analysis).

Mandatory Requirements & Technical Skills

• Experience: Minimum of 1–3 years of hands-on quality engineering or inspection experience explicitly within an AS9100-certified aerospace or defense manufacturing environment.

• Blueprint Reading & GD&T: Foundational proficiency reading aerospace schematics and interpreting ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing symbols, datums, and limits.

• Contract/Agile Mindset: Prior experience working in short-term contract roles with a demonstrated ability to learn internal software and workflows

• Communication: Highly articulate and assertive verbal and written communication skills necessary to document technical failures objectively.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial) or a related technical discipline; equivalent technical experience accompanied by an ASQ certification (e.g., CQI or CQT) will be considered.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to frequently lift, move, and handle parts or inspection equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and navigate a manufacturing plant/shop floor environment for extended periods (up to 8–10 hours per shift).
