Job Summary
HKEX’s Data and Analytics team, part of the Clearing Risk Management group, seeks a Risk Data Engineer to advance our risk data landscape. The role will design and build data pipelines, apply analytics and statistical techniques, and develop self‑service business‑intelligence solutions to support Post‑Trade and Operational Risk departments.
Responsibilities
- Work with business users to identify value‑added opportunities through data analytics.
- Articulate business requirements and design and implement suitable data solutions.
- Analyze large volumes of diverse risk data with our Big Data and Analytics Platform using analytics, visualization and data‑science techniques.
- Innovate, promote and drive new data and analytics concepts across the department.
- Collaborate with the Chief Data Office to design and continuously refine the risk data framework.
- Enhance existing use cases with operations and business stakeholders.
- Optimize workflows and use cases to streamline processes.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience as a Data Analytics SME, Business Intelligence Engineer, Data Scientist or similar role.
- Proven ability to conduct data and statistical analysis and work effectively in cross‑functional teams.
- Strong coding skills in Python, VBA or similar.
- Proficiency in SQL, data modelling, ETL development and data warehousing.
- Understanding of statistical models and experience preparing BRDs and FS documents.
- Data‑driven mindset and capacity to influence and drive delivery.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in financial markets (exchange, brokerage, trading institution) and knowledge of financial products.
- Background in large‑scale analytics solutions within the financial industry or risk management.
- Experience working in cross‑functional teams and communicating with business and technical stakeholders.
Location & Employment
Location: HKEX – Exchange Square, Hong Kong SAR. Shift: Standard – 40 hours per week. Employment type: Contract.
