Associate Software Engineer, Agentic Development
Summary
An entry-level engineer in Petaling Jaya who learns to build dependable software by directing coding agents on Jubi's enterprise AI data-analytics platform. Day to day: planning changes, reviewing agent-written code, writing tests, and shipping improvements to a Node.js and Rust product deployed on Kubernetes, under a senior engineer's mentorship.
Salary: RM 4,000 – RM 6,000 per month
About the role
An associate software engineer role focused on learning how to build dependable software with coding agents. You will understand problems, direct the work of coding agents, read and improve the results, and demonstrate that changes work. A senior engineer will help you develop judgment through changes to a product people already use, starting with small changes and clear expectations.
Key responsibilities
- Work with a senior engineer on improvements and fixes to the application people use to ask questions about their data
- Turn each problem into a clear plan: who the change helps, what should change, and what must keep working
- Use coding agents to carry out the agreed plan, and ask for help when the work grows beyond it
- Read and improve the code, then explain the change with the coding agent closed
- Use tests and repeatable checks to show that the change works, including how it behaves when something fails
- Work through review feedback and explain what you changed and how you checked it
About you
- A fresh graduate, or someone early in their career
- Can read a small piece of unfamiliar code and explain what it does and how it can fail, without help from a coding agent
- Have one project you can show and explain your part in
- Write clearly in English, our working language
- Willing to use coding agents, question their suggestions, and take responsibility for the code you submit
- Confidence with a command line is useful
- It helps if you have used a coding agent and can explain one suggestion you rejected
Benefits
- Full-time employment in Petaling Jaya
- Written employment contract, with basic salary stated in the offer letter
- Employer contributions to EPF, SOCSO, and EIS, paid on top of basic salary
- Paid annual leave, paid sick leave, and 11 paid public holidays a year, plus any additional paid holidays required by law
- Laptop for your work
- Guidance from a named senior engineer as you learn the product and take on more responsibility
About us
Jubi builds an enterprise AI platform for organisations that want answers they can trust from their own data. A business user asks a question in plain language and gets an answer, often as a chart, table, or dashboard. Analysts define the business terms and metrics behind those answers, so different teams work from the same definitions. Malaysian enterprises already use the product. The platform is built mainly in Node.js and Rust, and is deployed on Kubernetes.
