The Associate Software Engineer is an entry-level software development professional responsible for supporting the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software applications. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, the role contributes to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) by developing quality code, participating in testing activities, maintaining technical documentation, and continuously building technical expertise. This position is designed to develop foundational software engineering skills while supporting the delivery of reliable, scalable, and business-driven technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, test, debug, and maintain software applications following established coding standards and development best practices.
Participate in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
Write and execute unit tests and support system, integration, and user acceptance testing activities.
Troubleshoot software defects and implement fixes under the guidance of senior engineers.
Prepare and maintain technical documentation, code comments, and development artifacts.
Participate in code reviews and continuously improve code quality, performance, and maintainability.
Collaborate with software engineers, quality assurance, business analysts, and other stakeholders to deliver project requirements.
Learn and apply new technologies, frameworks, tools, and development methodologies to enhance technical capabilities.
Support system enhancements, maintenance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Perform other duties and projects assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Relevant training or coursework in software development, programming, or related technologies is an advantage.
Experience
0–2 years of experience in software development or a related technical role.
Fresh graduates with relevant internship or project experience are encouraged to apply.
Technical Skills
Basic knowledge of software development principles, object-oriented programming, and coding best practices.
Familiarity with one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, C#, Python, JavaScript, PHP, or similar).
Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases; familiarity with NoSQL databases is an advantage.
Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Git) and integrated development environments (IDEs).
Exposure to web, mobile, desktop, or enterprise application development.
Knowledge of automation testing tools, ERP, CRM, Financial Systems, or Logistics applications is an advantage.
