The role is for 2PM - 11PM Bucharest time - evening shift.
What will you contribute?
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Engineering Support Services, the Associate Support Engineer is a key interface between clients and Teciem, contributing to the delivery of software and services to ensure a world-class customer experience. The holder of this role is an experienced product specialist with solid technical competencies, responsible for handling and resolving moderately complex issues within the shortest time possible, while working with increasing independence. The Associate Support Engineer also uses their technical expertise to support functional consultants and may assist junior colleagues with technical guidance when needed. At times, this role may be called upon to validate beta deliveries or fixes before release, or to go on-site to handle issues on the client's premises.
Responsibilities & Deliverables:
Your deliverables as a Associate Support Engineer will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Respond to customer requests — reported issues, questions, or assistance requests — helping clients utilize the product effectively according to their needs
Understand reported issues from a technical perspective and reliably reproduce moderately complex scenarios across Teciem environments
Perform technical investigation and root cause analysis with growing independence, providing solutions where feasible and detailed analysis to stakeholder teams for more complex cases
Proactively update clients on issue resolution progress, tracking cross-department escalations and ensuring timely resolution with a focus on client satisfaction and product quality
Participate in and, where appropriate, lead client (phone) meetings and WebEx sessions to ensure clear communication and speed up investigation of reported issues
Validate defects thoroughly, including checking related scenarios, to confirm fixes are complete and stable
Build and maintain scripts to support investigation and testing, with reduced reliance on senior colleagues
Write clear technical specifications and contribute to best practices documentation
Provide informal guidance/support to junior (TP1) colleagues on technical questions or investigation approaches
Raise/escalate issues to the Team Leader/Manager when appropriate, while handling day-to-day prioritization independently
Required Experience:
University degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business IT, or related major
Good to strong knowledge of C/C++, including solid debugging skills and hands-on experience with debugging tools across different operating systems (Visual Studio, Sun/Solaris Studio, Eclipse)
Solid working knowledge of SQL/C#, with ability to read, write, and debug moderately complex code independently
Working knowledge of Oracle databases, including writing and troubleshooting SQL queries, understanding execution plans, and diagnosing data-related issues
Working expertise with Solaris and Linux operating systems (good to advanced expertise on Windows)
Working knowledge of ActiveMQ implementation and Tibco considered a strong plus
Excellent written and verbal communication in English
Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and customer focus, with demonstrated ability to handle moderately complex issues independently
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a customer-facing team
Some prior experience mentoring or supporting junior colleagues is a plus
