Department: CNS-1350-CNSLR

Reports to: Counseling Center Director

Classification: Part-time

FSLA: Non-Exempt


Position Summary

The Associate Therapist provides professional, faith-integrated counseling services to individuals, couples, families, and groups under appropriate clinical supervision. The therapist works within the mission and values of the Bayside Counseling Center, integrating sound clinical practice.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide counseling services to individuals, couples, families, and groups as assigned.
  • Maintain a minimum active caseload of 15 clients per week.
  • Maintain a client retention rate of approximately 75% or higher.
  • Develop treatment plans that align with case conceptualization and client goals.
  • Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation, including initial evaluations, progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
  • Terminate cases appropriately and in a timely manner when treatment goals have been met or referral is indicated.
  • Consult with supervisors, therapists, physicians, and other professionals as clinically appropriate.

Professional Practice

  • Prepare for sessions through case review, treatment planning, and clinical strategizing with supervision team.
  • Return client calls and messages within 24 hours whenever possible.
  • Manage scheduling, rescheduling, and cancellation of appointments.
  • Follow all HIPAA, confidentiality, documentation, and legal requirements.
  • Maintain professional conduct consistent with Christian values and organizational standards.
  • Strong assessment skills, including evaluation of physiological, situational, relational, and intrapsychic factors.
  • Competence in creating and implementing effective treatment plans.
  • Professional growth and receptiveness to supervision and feedback.
  • Ability to integrate biblical truth and the Gospel into counseling in a manner that is ethical, respectful, and clinically appropriate.
  • Commitment to excellence in client care, teamwork, and Christian ministry.

Staff Participation

  • Meet individually with the Clinical Director and/or assigned supervisor as scheduled.
  • Participate in required clinical supervision.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings/integration seminars.
  • Attend in-service trainings, workshops, and professional development activities as directed.
