Position Overview
The School of Business, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship invites applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor of Accounting beginning in the 2026–2027 academic year. The successful candidate will provide highquality instruction, academic advising, and mentorship to undergraduate and graduate students while contributing to the continued growth and development of the University's business programs.
The ideal candidate will possess expertise in accounting and related business disciplines, demonstrate excellence in teaching, and maintain a commitment to preparing students for successful careers in accounting, finance, auditing, taxation, consulting, and related professions.
Primary Responsibilities
Teaching and Instruction
- Teach undergraduate and graduate accounting courses, including but not limited to: Principles of Accounting I and II, Intermediate Accounting, Cost Accounting, Auditing, Federal Taxation, Accounting Information Systems, Governmental and Nonprofit Accounting, and Advanced Accounting.
- Deliver instruction through face-to-face, hybrid, and online modalities as assigned.
- Develop and maintain current course materials, assessments, and syllabi aligned with institutional standards and student learning outcomes.
- Utilize innovative instructional technologies and evidence-based teaching practices to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Participate in program assessment and continuous improvement initiatives.
Student Advising and Mentorship
- Advise students regarding academic planning, career opportunities, internships, certifications, and graduate education.
- Support student success initiatives focused on retention, persistence, and degree completion.
- Mentor students interested in pursuing professional certifications such as the CPA, CMA, CIA, and related credentials.
- Assist students in securing internships, experiential learning opportunities, and employment placement.
Scholarship and Professional Engagement
- Maintain professional currency through scholarly activity, applied research, consulting, professional certifications, or other discipline-related engagement.
- Participate in professional organizations and activities that strengthen teaching and student outcomes.
- Support undergraduate and graduate student participation in professional conferences, case competitions, and research projects.
Service to the University
- Participate in departmental, school, and university committees and initiatives.
- Assist with student recruitment, retention, and community engagement activities.
- Support accreditation, assessment, strategic planning, and program development efforts.
- Attend faculty meetings, commencement exercises, convocations, and other institutional events. Contribute to the University's mission of academic excellence and service.
Faculty Workload
As a full-time faculty member, the normal teaching load ranges from 12 to 15 semester credit hours per semester, based on institutional needs, course scheduling, enrollment demands, and assigned responsibilities. Teaching assignments within this range are considered part of the regular faculty workload. Release time may be granted for approved administrative, institutional, or other assigned duties.
