This position will be filled at either the Assistant or Associate level, based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience.
Position Summary
The Assistant or Associate Athletic Director, Business Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for the business functions of the Department of Athletics. The position oversees financial management, budgeting, purchasing, contracts, revenue and expense tracking, and business processes to ensure fiscal responsibility, compliance, and efficient departmental operations.
Primary Responsibilities & Duties
Manage all day to day business paperwork including, but not limited to, expense vouchers, Concur reports, purchase orders, journal entries, and budget transfers for Athletics
Interface with accounts payable, purchasing, and payroll departments to facilitate processing, including budget inquiry research as necessary
Meet with coaches to review budget reports and prepare forecasts
Plan, prepare, and reconcile all cash advances for meals, recruiting, and travel
Audit Concur reports for accuracy and completeness, performing reclasses as needed
Provide monthly Concur report updates to full department
Complete the Metro Survey, AHA survey, CAA survey, and assist with the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act and NCAA audit
Prepare monthly team, administrative and fundraising reports for athletics
Set up all new vendors on Unimarket
Sign off on transactions in Unimarket at level zero, checking for proper accounting and workflow
Assist Senior Associate Athletics Director and Executive Director of Athletics with zero-based budgeting annually
Responsible for deposit processing
Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analysis on request
Become a resource for coaching and administrative staff on business functions, policies and procedures
Serve as sport administrator for several assigned sports
Serve as Senior Woman Administrator, attending league meetings as required
Stay up to date on the college athletics landscape to be able to contribute to strategic discussions at conference level

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Other Attributes
Bachelor’s degree required; a degree in Accounting, Finance or Sport Management is preferred
Experience with budgeting for Division I Intercollegiate Athletics preferred or experience in a University business office
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Effective organizational and time management skills
Detail oriented and able to maintain confidentiality
Unusual Working Conditions
The employee is required to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
