Job Description:

The Sports Operations Manager (SOM) for Intercollegiate Club Sports will serve various sports ensuring game prep and execution.

Looking for one SOM to specialize in ICE HOCKEY while three others will cover all other sports together.

Each SOM will assist the Assistant AD and the respective coach to deliver the best club sport experience. Should be able and willing to manage spreadsheets, operate scoreboard, announce starting lineups, oversee games, and correspond with game day officials.

Job Location/ Hours Required:

The candidate will perform most/all job duties in (MILLIS ATHLETIC CENTER AND VARIOUS SPORTS FACILITIES ). Hours may vary depending on the job requirements; however, the total number of hours a student employee may work per week is 20 hours. This position requires up to (15) hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet regularly with part-time club coaches/students

  • Lead according to club sports manual of operations

  • Communicate directly with club coaches and students to help assist with program management.

  • Help oversee events.

  • Attend HPU events to promote the club sports program, as assigned

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

Education

  • HPU Student

Experience and Training

  • Sports Management degree applicant preferred

  • Athletics background a plus

Knowledge, Skills, Ability:

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Must be highly organized

  • Must have knowledge of programming and administering club sports

  • Knowledge of Microsoft word, excel, adobe creative cloud (photo shop)

  • Must be able to be a team player,

  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to High Point University's Vision, Mission and Values and the values of the HPU Athletic Department
