Description of Work

This position is located within the Office of Administrative Hearings, Rules Division, and provides professional legal support to the Rules Review Commission. The role involves reviewing permanent and temporary rules adopted by state agencies to determine whether they fall within the authority delegated by the General Assembly and comply with the requirements of the Administrative Procedure Act. The employee works closely with state agencies to assist in preparing rules for approval and consults with members of the public to facilitate the submission of information used by agencies and the Commission during rule review. The position also participates in the periodic review of existing rules, as mandated by the General Assembly, and advises the Commission on appropriate rule classifications.

  • Ability to provide professional legal services, including analyzing regulatory language, and drafting legal opinions.
  • Ability to draft memoranda and reports as well as present legal analysis.

See the Education and Experience Equivalency Guide for details.
