About Our Client
Our Client is a highly successful, fast-growing boutique law firm specializing in estate planning, elder law, and heavy transactional practice across New Jersey and New York. Having expanded from a single office into a prominent regional footprint with locations across the region and expanding throughout New York, the firm is built on delivering high-touch, sophisticated legal counsel to families and seniors.
Our client has intentionally designed an innovative practice model that empowers senior attorneys to do what they love most: advise clients, craft planning strategies, and build lasting relationships, while completely offloading the operational, administrative, and heavy drafting burdens of running a practice.
Position Overview
Are you a senior Elder Law or Trusts & Estates attorney who loves working with clients but is ready to step away from the stress of billing, HR, marketing, administrative headaches, and heavy drafting?
On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced Senior Elder Law & Estate Planning Attorney in the Long Island, NY area. Whether you are currently running a solo or small firm practice, transitioning from a government agency, or serving as fiduciary counsel in wealth management, this role offers a fully supported platform to practice law on your terms.
For current firm owners or solo practitioners, our client also offers a formal Practice Acquisition & Succession Option, enabling a smooth, structured transition of your existing client base into a fully supported environment while monetizing your hard-earned business equity.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Consultation & Strategy: Conduct in-depth initial consultations and strategy sessions with clients and their families to understand their long-term estate planning, Medicaid, long-term care, and elder law needs.
- Thoughtful Counsel: Provide sophisticated, compassionate guidance regarding asset protection, estate administration, special needs planning, and trusts.
- Relationship Management: Act as the primary advisor and trusted counselor to clients within your local Long Island community.
- Collaborative Planning: Work closely with the firm's centralized legal support team to deliver seamlessly executed, high-quality estate plans and transactional deliverables.
What the Firm Provides (No Administrative Headaches)
Our client's centralized infrastructure handles all the operational overhead so you can focus 100% on client advisory:
- Centralized Legal Drafting & Operations: Dedicated team handling all heavy document drafting, transactional work, trust funding, and court filings.
- Administrative & HR Support: Full HR, healthcare benefits administration, and staff management provided by the firm.
- Marketing & Intake Infrastructure: Proven marketing systems and an in-house client intake team that keeps your schedule filled with qualified clients.
- Office & Technology Stack: Turnkey office space provided in Long Island (or transition support for your existing office), equipped with a fully integrated, modern legal technology stack.
Candidate Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in New York (New Jersey or Connecticut admission is a plus).
- 10+ years of legal experience with a strong concentration in Elder Law, Trusts & Estates, Trust Administration, and/or Medicaid Planning.
- Proven track record of strong client relationship management, consultation, and advisory skills.
- Ideal Backgrounds Include:
- Solo or Small Firm Practitioners looking to step away from business management or plan an exit/succession strategy.
- Government / Agency Attorneys (e.g., NY State OAG, NYC Law Dept) seeking a high-autonomy transition into private client strategy.
- Trust Officers / Fiduciary Counsel from trust companies or wealth management firms.
- Desire to focus on high-level strategy and client interaction rather than legal drafting, administrative tasks, and operations.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $150,000 to $230,000+ (commensurate with experience and portfolio).
- Performance Bonus: Generous incentive structure based on client engagement and practice growth.
- Practice Valuation & Acquisition (if applicable): Structured compensation based on valuation for firm owners.
- Comprehensive Benefits Package:
