Audio Technician (Event Run Position)

Hours are typically 14:00 – 23:30 plus meetings and reporting work.

Working onsite for the install, event run, and strike.

PAY RATE

$500/day

ABOUT THE ROLE

The AudioTechnician will report to the Technical Manager and Event Manager and help install, operate and maintain a large audio/video rig in an outdoor environment using a variety of technologies including Dante, QLAB, Timecode, Companion, Brightsign players and various video projection systems and techniques. You will be responsible for maintaining the technical and production values while the experience is in operation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Switch on and switch off of system each day and undertaking of daily technical checks to ensure system is running correctly
  • Installation of audio systems in an outdoor environment to an extremely high standard
  • Maintenance and servicing of installed equipment during the run of show
  • Fixing any faults or damage that occurs to the system during the run of show
    ● Liaising with the wider technical team to highlight any potential problems or faults within the system
  • General maintenance
    ● Assisting other departments with any technical help they may require
  • Attention to detail and high quality of work essential

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Audio knowledge requirements

  • Experience and knowledge of Dante network audio distribution
  • Experience and competence with QLAB audio playback software
  • Experience of local area networks and reasonable networking knowledge
  • Knowledge of MSC, MIDI triggers, Timecode and OSC triggering
  • Knowledge of behavior of sounds levels in an outdoor environment

Video knowledge requirements

  • Experience with video projection – Ability to soft edge blend up to 3 projectors. Panasonic, Epson and Barco experience preferred.
  • Reasonable LED knowledge – predominantly Megapixel and Brompton processing and IEM swapping on ROE products.
  • Knowledge and experience using BitFocus Companion show control software
  • Knowledge and experience of programming Brightsign players
  • Experience with deploying complex Local Area Networks. Reasonable networking knowledge to allow basic fault finding on fiber based network deployments.

Personal requirement

  • Previous audio experience, ideally on large outdoor festivals, Illumination trails or outdoor experiential events.
  • Ability to work well in a wider team and get involved in other departments to help the overall event succeed in its ambitions
  • Passionate about live events and delivering a flawless experience for the audience
  • Intuitive approach to the job – willing to get involved to solve problems and make improvements to the audience experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to work well under pressure and to deadlines
    ● Time management and organizational skills
    ● Attention to detail
  • Current First-Aid certification is a plus.
  • Visa/permits - The candidate must be able to work in the event country and achieve one of the

following: (1) Already a citizen/resident in the country and is permitted to work. (2) Already in possession of a work visa/permit..
