Internal Audit – Team Member – Branch Banking Audits

Job Role
The Key responsibilities of the role will be as follows:
Conduct risk-based internal audits of Retail Liability (RL) branches, Currency Chests, Cash Points, Local Clearing Cell (LCC), Regional Processing Centers (RPC), and Central Processing Center (CPC) operations in accordance with the approved Audit Plan.
Conduct audit verification and oversight of key branch operations, including cash management, Safe Deposit Locker administration, deliverables management, and other operational controls & from an RPC perspective, review and validate processes related to account opening, account maintenance, regulatory monitoring, compliance checks, and statutory/regulatory submissions carried out by the Central Processing Centre (CPC)
Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, operational processes, regulatory compliance, and risk management practices across branch operations.
Identify process gaps, control weaknesses, and operational risks, and provide recommendations to strengthen controls and improve process efficiency.
Independently engage with branch management and relevant stakeholders to discuss audit observations, validate findings, and agree on corrective action plans.
Prepare comprehensive audit documentation, maintain high-quality audit working papers, and ensure adherence to internal audit standards and methodology.
Draft and deliver accurate, insightful, and timely audit reports highlighting key risks, observations, root causes, and recommendations.
Monitor and coordinate with Concurrent Auditors, review concurrent audit reports, and ensure effective closure of significant observations relating to Branches, Currency Chests, Cash Points, and RPC operations.
Assess compliance with internal policies, regulatory guidelines, RBI directives, and operational procedures applicable to branch banking functions.
Track audit issue pending actionable and follow up with business units to ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.
Collaborate effectively with audit team members and business stakeholders, demonstrating a strong team-oriented approach, professional integrity, and commercial acumen to support organizational objectives.
Technical competencies required
Strong understanding of branch banking operations, Currency Chest operations, and retail banking processes.
Sound knowledge of risk assessment, internal controls, audit procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Excellent analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and report-writing skills.
Ability to work independently, exercise professional judgment, and manage multiple audit assignments within defined timelines.
Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and process improvement mindset.
2 to 5 years of relevant experience in Branch Banking operations, Risk Management, or Control Functions within the banking industry.
