Automation & Controls Project Engineer
What You'll Do
Engineer Solutions
- Develop automation and controls solutions for industrial and manufacturing customers.
- Support PLC, HMI, SCADA, instrumentation, and control system projects.
- Interpret drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams, and control schematics.
- Assist with controls design documentation and system architecture development.
Solve Problems
- Troubleshoot automation, controls, instrumentation, and electrical systems.
- Participate in commissioning, startup, and customer acceptance activities.
- Work hands-on with field teams to overcome technical challenges.
- Help customers improve reliability, productivity, and operational performance.
Support Estimating & Preconstruction
- Assist with preparing project estimates and budgets.
- Develop material takeoffs and labor estimates.
- Review plans and specifications to identify project risks and opportunities.
- Participate in design-build and negotiated project pursuits.
No estimating experience is required.
We'll teach you the estimating side of the business if you're willing to learn.
Execute Projects
- Collaborate with Project Managers, field personnel, customers, and suppliers.
- Help move projects from concept through startup and closeout.
- Manage priorities and help keep projects moving forward.
- Take ownership of project outcomes and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications
Required
- THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN AVON, INDIANA. CANDIDATES MUST BE ABLE TO COMMUTE TO OUR LOCATION EVERY DAY
- Experience in industrial automation, controls, electrical construction, manufacturing, maintenance, systems integration, or a related technical field.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, control schematics, and technical documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Desire to learn, grow, and take ownership of projects.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Engineering Technology, Automation Technology, or a related field.
A degree is preferred but not required.
We value practical experience, technical aptitude, and a proven ability to solve problems.
