Automation Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Java and Selenium WebDriver to design, develop, maintain,and enhance automated testing solutions for web-based enterprise applications.The candidate will be responsible for building reliable automation frameworks,executing functional and regression testing, performing API and database validation, and integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust automated test scripts using Java and Selenium WebDriver.
• Develop and enhance scalable automation frameworks using TestNG and/or JUnit.
• Create and execute functional, regression, integration, system, and end-to-end automated tests.
• Perform API testing and validate REST-based services using suitable automation tools.
• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing.
• Perform database validation and execute SQL queries to verify backend data.
• Analyse automation failures, identify root causes, and distinguish application defects from automation or environment issues.
• Log, track, and manage defects using JIRA or equivalent defect-management tools.
• Prepare test scenarios, test cases, automation scripts, execution reports, and defect documentation.
• Implement reusable test components and maintain automation code quality and reliability.
• Support parallel and cross-browser test execution where required.
• Collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, DevOps engineers, and QA teams to resolve defects.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Contribute to QA automation strategy, framework improvements, and continuous quality initiatives.

Mandatory Requirements

• Strong hands-on programming experience in Java for test automation.
• Strong practical experience with Selenium Web Driver.
• Proven experience designing or maintaining automation testing frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with TestNG and/or JUnit.
• Good understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and Java programming concepts.
• Experience with API testing, preferably REST APIs.
• Good working knowledge of SQL and database validation.
• Experience integrating automated tests with CI/CD pipelines.
• Working knowledge of Git and source-code management.
• Experience using JIRA or similar defect-management tools.
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Selenium Grid and parallel test execution.
• Experience with Maven or Gradle.
• Hands-on experience with Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
• Experience with REST Assured or equivalent API automation tools.
• Experience with cross-browser and distributed test execution.
• Experience testing banking, financial-services, or other enterprise applications.
• Knowledge of automation framework design patterns such as Page Object Model (POM).
• Experience with test data management, parameterisation, and reusable automation components.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Relevant professional experience in software quality assurance and test automation, with strong hands-on experience in Java and Selenium.
