Automation Engineer (Back End)
Summary
Automation Engineer focused on back-end/API test automation: building and maintaining test frameworks using Java/JavaScript, RestAssured/SoapUI, PACT contract testing, CI/CD (Jenkins, GitLab), and Docker/Kubernetes. Salary: £55,000 - 95,000 per year

- In-depth understanding of QA processes and the software development life cycle.
- Hands-on experience building test automation frameworks from scratch.
- Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as JavaScript and Java (3+ years).
- Experience with API testing, ideally using RestAssured or SoapUI.
- Experience implementing Contract Testing solutions.
- Familiarity with configuring CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience establishing and executing testing tools, testing environments, and test data across the testing lifecycle.
- Experience working closely with cross-functional teams, including developers and other QA team members, to design, develop, and enhance automation frameworks.
- Familiarity with containerisation technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes for testing microservices in a containerised environment.
- Automated API testing with Java, such as RestAssured or SoapUI.
- Experience with Contract Testing tools such as PACT.
- Experience using collaborative tools such as Jira and Confluence, or similar, for test case management, documentation, and communication within Agile/Scrum teams.
- Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, including Jenkins, GitLab CI, or other CI/CD tools for automated testing and deployment.
- Understanding of testing microservices-based applications.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Understanding of accessibility testing.
- We are seeking candidates who have held Security Clearance in the past or hold active SC status.
- Oversee all aspects of developing, implementing, and maintaining automated test scripts using automation tools.
- Verify the usability, functionality, performance, and scalability of our applications and our clients applications.
- Construct automation tools and expand framework functionalities to accommodate unique team requirements.
- Initiate and establish processes for automation and performance monitoring.
- Contribute to our Quality Engineering teams and our clients in establishing automation and testing best practices.
- Collaborate with various teams to address automation challenges and coordinate efforts to resolve performance test failures.
- Design, develop, and deliver test solutions.
- Support and develop other team members and foster best practice.
- Keep up to date with industry standards and advances.
