Automation Engineer (Expat to Northern Europe/Manufacturing)
NewBe an early applicant- Take technical ownership of in-house automation equipment, ensuring availability, reliability, safety and maintainability.
- Program, commission, troubleshoot and optimize FANUC, ABB, Nachi and Stäubli industrial robots, including paths, I/O,interlocks, safety interfaces and recovery routines.
- Develop, modify and troubleshoot PLC/HMI software across multiple brands, including Siemens and preferably Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Omron, Beckhoff or similar platforms.
- Integrate and troubleshoot machine vision,cameras, lighting, barcode/QR readers, inspection logic and reject mechanisms.
- Design and modify machine parts, fixtures, guarding and layouts using SolidWorks and 2D CAD; prepare drawings, BOMs and technical specifications.
- Lead automation projects from concept and risk assessment through design, procurement, FAT/SAT, commissioning, handover and stabilization.
- Integrate new equipment into existing lines,including PLC, robot, vision, printing, inspection and, where applicable, MES/traceability interfaces.
- Train technical teams and support continuous improvement efforts
- Collaborate closely with Production, Process Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, IT/MES and external machine suppliers.
Requirements:
- Diploma/Degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of industrial automation experience, preferably in high-volume, plastics, assembly or medical-device manufacturing.
- Strong hands-on programming and troubleshooting capability with FANUC, ABB, Nachi and/or Stäubli robots.
- Experience with machine vision, sensors, servo systems, pneumatics and reading electrical schematics.
- Strong multi-brand PLC/HMI programming and troubleshooting knowledge; Siemens capability is essential.
- Strong SolidWorks and 2D CAD capability; able to create and interpret drawings, assemblies and manufacturing documentation.
- Understanding of PROFINET/PROFIBUS, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, Modbus TCP, OPC UA or similar industrial networks is desirable.
- Willing to be based in Lativia on expat package
- Monthly salary + housing allowances and variable bonus.
