Automation Engineer
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with Process Analysts, business users, and IT teams to understand documented processes, business requirements, and automation opportunities.
- Assess automation feasibility based on process complexity, system touchpoints, data inputs, business rules, exceptions, controls, and expected business value.
- Design, develop, test, and deploy automation workflows using approved enterprise automation tools.
- Build automation solutions using Microsoft Power Automate, Blue Prism, UiPath, and other approved workflow or business process platforms.
- Develop Python scripts or other programs where appropriate to support automation, system integration, data processing, reporting, and workflow enablement.
- Support automation use cases across wealth management, portfolio financing, AML, and related banking operations.
- Translate business process documentation into technical designs and workflow specifications.
- Develop automation components that are secure, maintainable, reusable, scalable, and aligned with enterprise technology standards.
- Implement workflow logic, business rules, exception handling, notifications, logging, audit trails, and operational controls.
- Integrate automation workflows with relevant banking applications, internal systems, spreadsheets, document repositories, email, databases, APIs, and other approved platforms.
- Prepare technical documentation, including technical design documents, workflow specifications, configuration documents, test scripts, deployment notes, and support handover materials.
- Support unit testing, system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), defect resolution, and production readiness activities.
- Work within established IT governance, security, change management, and operational processes.
- Collaborate with Business, IT, Risk, Compliance, Cybersecurity, and Infrastructure teams to ensure automation solutions meet regulatory and enterprise requirements.
- Provide production support and troubleshooting for deployed automation solutions.
- Contribute to delivery within the targeted 6-month programme timeline
Required Experience
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in Automation Engineering, RPA Development, Workflow Development, Power Platform Development, Software Engineering, or a similar role.
- Hands-on experience designing and developing automation workflows or digital process solutions.
- Experience with Microsoft Power Automate, Blue Prism, UiPath, or similar workflow/RPA automation platforms.
- Programming or scripting experience, preferably Python.
- Ability to translate business process documentation and requirements into technical automation solutions.
- Experience designing workflow logic, business rules, exception handling, notifications, logging, and operational controls.
- Strong understanding of testing, deployment, defect resolution, production support, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across Business and IT teams.
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a structured, governed, and regulated environment.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in banking or financial services.
- Experience automating processes in wealth management, portfolio financing, AML, KYC, compliance operations, reporting, reconciliation, or back-office banking.
- Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Automate, Power Apps, Dataverse, SharePoint, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft 365 integrations.
- Experience with business process management (BPM) or workflow platforms.
- Experience with API integration, data extraction, document processing, reporting automation, or intelligent document processing.
- Understanding of banking-related security, data privacy, auditability, access control, credential management, and change governance.
- Experience working within enterprise IT standards, technology delivery frameworks, and governance processes.
