Automation Engineer Support

Job Summary

We are looking for an Automation Support Engineer who will apply maintenance knowledge and tools to deliver results within their own area of responsibility, while working closely with line managers on a daily basis to achieve process and factory Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). You will execute activities related to automation and industrial IT and will be expected to collaborate with process work cells on projects focused on prevention, response, and continuous improvement.
This position is based at our plant in La Rioja, Argentina, and reports to the Maintenance Manager.
Tetra Pak does not sponsor work visas or relocation for this position.

What you will do

As an Automation Support Engineer, you will:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot automation equipment failures.
  • Perform configurations and backups of firewalls and additional OT (Operational Technology) system protections.
  • Interact with central/global teams.
  • Provide response incidents related to PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, industrial robots, and sensors.
  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Verify the proper operation of control and instrumentation devices.
  • Update software and firmware on automated equipment.
  • Modify operating sequences according to production requirements.
  • Prepare reports on failures and interventions.
  • Document changes in programs and configurations.
  • Implement automation solutions for process and laboratory data collection and processing.
  • Support early project management using Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and World Class Manufacturing (WCM) methodologies.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of recurring issues.
  • Collaborate in multidisciplinary teams focused on developing continuous improvement initiatives (reducing downtime, increasing efficiency, etc.)

We believe you have

  • Degree in Electronics Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering, with a focus on automation and information technology.
  • Advanced written and spoken English proficiency
  • Knowledge of automation, PLCs, and industrial networks.
  • Experience in programming and coding using relevant languages.
  • Knowledge of IT, hardware, software, and cybersecurity.
  • Experience in automatic control and robotics.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing industries and/or operating plants is desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
