Automation Project Engineer (PLC & Control Systems)
Summary
Designs and implements PLC-based automation systems for industrial projects, handling programming, testing, and on-site commissioning across Asia Pacific.
Location: East, Singapore
Salary: $3,500 – $4,000 per month
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 5.00pm
About the Role
Join an established engineering company specialising in industrial automation and control system solutions for the energy and process industries. In this role, you will be involved in the full project lifecycle—from system design and PLC programming to Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), commissioning, and regional project support across Asia Pacific.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the execution of automation and control system projects from start to completion.
- Review project specifications and prepare project execution plans and schedules.
- Design, develop and modify PLC control systems based on project requirements.
- Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), including customer witness testing.
- Perform system commissioning, troubleshooting and technical support at customer sites.
- Monitor project progress to ensure quality, cost and schedule targets are achieved.
- Work closely with customers, suppliers and internal teams to resolve technical issues.
- Participate in technical discussions and design review meetings with clients.
- Assist in preparing technical proposals and reviewing customer specifications when required.
- Travel within the Asia Pacific region for project implementation and commissioning support.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 1 year of experience in automation, PLC programming, control systems or project engineering.
- Knowledge of industrial automation and control systems.
- Experience with PLC systems (e.g. Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Mitsubishi, Omron or similar) will be an advantage.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Outlook, Project and Visio.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn.
- Able to travel within the Asia Pacific region for project assignments.
