About you

You should have a BS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Biomechanical Engineering (or equivalent) and/or independent experience working on laboratory or robotic hardware as displayed by prior employment. The following should also describe you:

  • You have the attentiveness and vigilance to maintain a complex suite of robotic equipment

  • You know when the solution to a problem is hardware, software, or both

  • You recognize quickly when you see a superior solution and are not afraid to incorporate changes

  • The prospect of a fully automated genome factory gets you excited

  • You want to experience the rise of a startup from the inside, and want to learn everything you don’t yet know to perform optimally in a fast-paced environment

What you'll do

  • Take responsibility for uptime on a multi-million dollar pipeline through equipment maintenance

  • Troubleshoot hardware problems, oversee repairs, and incorporate critical feature requests and improvements in a clinical laboratory

  • Work closely with other automation engineers to develop and validate hardware solutions to all in-house automation needs

  • Identify, design, and implement solutions to increase reliability and maintainability of robotics suite

  • Design, fabricate, and deploy low-volume custom hardware: from sensor-driven electrical circuits to structural supports for heavy equipment

  • Help specify and implement custom software tools to improve efficiency of robotics stack (robots, gantries, PLCs, scheduling, tracking, safety, etc...)
