Automation Software Engineer – PLC Programming
Summary
Develops and maintains PLC and HMI software for industrial automation systems — from functional design specs and electrical control panel schematics through programming, testing and debugging — and provides remote and on-site troubleshooting at customer sites, mainly using Omron/Mitsubishi PLCs and Proface/Hakko HMIs.
Salary: $4,000 – $6,000 per month
Responsibilities:
Follow the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to develop a high quality and maintainable software that meets user’s requirement.
Prepare functional flowchart and detailed design specifications.
Based on client requirements, interpret and identify design parameters, ensure solutions are implemented accurately and within budget to meet project requirements and schedules.
Design electrical control panel and prepare electrical schematics drawings.
Source and select Electrical Components and Issue of BOM.
Software Programming (PLC and HMI), System Implementation, Testing, Debugging.
Maintain detailed documentation.
Coordinate with relevant department to meet customer requirement and keep to project schedules.
Analyze existing software and identify areas for modification and improvement.
Keep to project schedules and resolve software and electrical issues in a timely manner.
Support Remote and On-site troubleshooting at customer’s sites.
Requirement:
Diploma or Degree in Automation Engineering, or related Engineering discipline.
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in the automation/semiconductor industry. Candidates will be offered a senior position based on qualification and/or experience.
Strong programming skills in PLC (Ladder, Flowchart and Structure Text; IEC 61131-3 standard languages).
Preferably experienced in Omron and Mitsubishi PLC.
Strong programming skills in HMI (Proface HMI, Hakko).
Able to maintain and modify existing programs (PLC, HMI) with minimal guidance.
Added Advantage:
Programming skills in Motion Control, Analog, PIDs, Process Control.
Knowledge of high-end fieldbus communication (eg. Modbus, EtherCAT, EIP).
Able to design and troubleshoot from electrical schematics.
Good command of written and spoken English.
Highly motivated, willing to learn and details oriented.
Able to work independently while also being a strong team player.
Able to work after office hours when required.
Able to travel on business trip within short notice when it is required.
