Our client — a large, well-established Financial Services organisation — is in growth and so their engineering team and looking for a Senior Automation Engineer. This role covers their core lending and fintech platforms. You'll architect the automation framework, set technical direction, and be the go-to person when the business needs Quality Assurance.

This role covers their core lending and fintech platforms. You'll architect the automation framework, set technical direction, and be the go-to person when the business needs Quality Assurance.
What You'll Do
- Own and evolve the team's Automation Framework
- Build end-to-end, API, and integration tests across web and backend systems
- Set automation standards and best practice across the team
- Maintain automated testing within CI/CD pipelines
- Champion early testability in the design and development process
- Manage regression and smoke test coverage across multiple projects
- Apply risk-based thinking to test planning for major releases
- Mentor developers and junior testers on automation skills
- Keep the team's tooling and testing approach current, including AI-assisted methods
- Maintain clear test strategy, coverage, and quality reporting
- 5+ years in software testing, with several years in a senior automation-focused role
- Strong hands-on experience with Playwright and JavaScript/TypeScript
- Solid coding fundamentals — async patterns, modular design, reusable components
- Experience with scalable test framework design (e.g. Page Object Model)
- API testing experience using common tools like Postman
- CI/CD pipeline experience (Azure DevOps)
- Confident with Git and collaborative development workflows
- Familiarity with test management tools (Xray, TestRail, or similar)
- Strong analytical skills for defect triage and root cause analysis
- Comfortable with BDD-style testing approaches
- Understanding of test data and environment management
- Awareness of common security testing principles
- Experience testing third-party or vendor platforms
- Exposure to containerised testing environments
- Interest or experience in AI-assisted testing tools

- Salary: Up to $135,000 pa, depending on experience
