About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and hands-on Senior Automation Test Engineer / Technical Lead to lead automation testing initiatives for our German healthcare software client.

Must have strong technical expertise in Playwright with TypeScript and Appium, with the ability to independently design, develop, maintain, and optimize automation frameworks across web and mobile applications.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role, requiring strong coding capabilities, problem-solving skills, ownership of test automation deliverables, and the ability to guide a small QA engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and execution of automated test scripts using Playwright with TypeScript.
• Develop and maintain mobile automation test suites using Appium for Android and iOS applications.
• Build scalable, reusable, and maintainable automation frameworks for web and mobile applications.
• Take end-to-end ownership of automation testing activities, including test planning, execution, defect analysis, and reporting.
• Provide technical guidance, conduct code reviews, and mentor junior automation engineers.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and improve testing efficiency.
• Collaborate directly with developers, product owners, and international stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure product quality.
• Perform API testing, integration testing, regression testing, and functional validation.
• Troubleshoot complex automation failures, identify root causes, and drive timely resolutions.
• Proactively identify quality risks and recommend improvements to test coverage and automation processes.

Mandatory Technical Skills

• Playwright + TypeScript: Strong hands-on experience developing and maintaining web automation frameworks.
• Appium: Practical experience implementing mobile test automation for Android and/or iOS.
• Programming: Strong TypeScript/JavaScript coding and debugging skills.
• Framework Development: Experience building and maintaining automation frameworks independently.
• API Testing: Experience with REST API testing and validation.
• CI/CD: Working knowledge of Git, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or equivalent tools.
• Testing Practices: Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, Agile/Scrum, defect management, and test automation best practices.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in healthcare software, healthcare IT, or regulated application environments.
• Experience with Selenium WebDriver and Java.
• Familiarity with desktop application testing or QF-Test.
• Experience collaborating with European or German software development teams.
• Knowledge of accessibility, cross-browser, and cross-platform testing.
