Automation Test Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Automation Development & Execution

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Python-based automation frameworks for connectivity and firmware validation.
• Build automated test suites for protocol behaviour, interface validation, and feature compliance.
• Enhance automation using PyTest, Robot Framework, or internal frameworks.
• Automate wired, wireless, and protocol scenarios with packet-level validation.
• Develop reliable automation with detailed logging, packet captures, diagnostics hooks, and triage capabilities.
• Convert manual validation workflows into maintainable automation.

Asset Qualification & Firmware Validation

• Validate packet-level behaviour and protocol compliance across firmware builds.
• Execute feature, regression, and system-level tests across engines.
• Ensure consistent connectivity behaviour across IPv4 and IPv6 environments.
• Identify coverage gaps and expand automation.

Triage, Debugging & Defect Management

• Analyse packet flows using Wireshark, tcpdump, automation logs, and firmware logs.
• Investigate failures and determine root cause (firmware, protocol behaviour, configuration, environment).
• Log and track issues in Jira with reproduction steps, logs, and packet captures.
• Collaborate with development teams to verify fixes and re-test.

Continuous Improvement

• Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins / Git workflows).
• Improve automation stability, reporting, and diagnostics.
• Increase automation coverage and reduce manual effort.
• Recommend improvements to automation frameworks and testing strategies.

Required Skills & Experience

Core Automation Expertise

• Strong Python programming and automation development experience
• Experience building or enhancing automation frameworks (PyTest, Robot Framework, or similar)
• Ability to design scalable, maintainable automation systems
• Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills

Systems, Firmware & Device Validation

• Experience testing firmware, embedded systems, or connected devices
• Strong understanding of functional, regression, integration, and system-level testing
• Experience validating complex system interactions across hardware and software layers

Networking & Protocol Testing

Working knowledge of networking concepts used in connected devices:

• TCP/IP
• DHCP
• DNS / mDNS
• HTTP / HTTPS
• SNMP
• IPP
• IPv4 / IPv6

Ability to analyse packet behaviour using Wireshark or tcpdump.

Tools & Environment

• Linux environments and scripting
• Packet capture and log analysis
• Git-based workflows
• Jenkins or similar CI systems
• Jira / Test management tools

Preferred Skills

• Printer technologies or device connectivity platforms
• Observability, diagnostics, and telemetry systems
• Performance or resiliency testing
