Job Summary
The Inventory Specialist is responsible for managing, organizing, and selling automotive inventory to support the company's research and development efforts. This role plays a critical part in maintaining accurate inventory records, preparing automotive components for resale, coordinating shipments, and assisting with procurement activities. The ideal candidate has hands-on automotive knowledge, experience with online marketplaces, and thrives in a fast-paced startup environment where responsibilities continue to evolve.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Organize, maintain, and track inventory of automotive parts and components used for research and development.
- Identify, research, and accurately describe automotive components for resale.
- Create detailed online listings for automotive parts using platforms such as eBay, Facebook Marketplace, and other online marketplaces.
- Photograph inventory and prepare professional product listings with accurate descriptions, specifications, and pricing.
- Manage online sales from listing through completion, including responding to customer inquiries and coordinating transactions.
- Conduct in-person sales and provide excellent customer service to buyers.
- Package and ship sold inventory while ensuring items are properly protected and delivered on time.
- Receive incoming deliveries, inspect shipments for accuracy, and update inventory records.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient inventory storage area.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with inventory audits and reconciliation.
- Assist with sourcing and procurement of production components as company needs evolve.
- Maintain accurate inventory documentation using Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or inventory management software.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and shop personnel to identify excess inventory available for resale.
- Follow company safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
