Porter | No Weekends | $21–$23/hr | Burien, WA

CARSTAR Burien is hiring a Porter. If you like being on the move, enjoy driving all kinds of vehicles, and take pride in a job done right, this role keeps every day varied. You’ll be the person who keeps vehicles moving through the repair process: picking up and delivering customer cars, meeting customers at pickups and drop-offs, helping get vehicles ready for delivery, and keeping two busy shops running smoothly. You’ll work full time with short Fridays and weekends off.

How the role works

This position reports to either our Burien or Des Moines shop and travels between the two. Some days you may start your shift in Burien and finish in Des Moines, or the other way around. You’ll use your own vehicle to get between the two shops. Throughout the day, while portering, you’ll be driving customer vehicles and often meeting customers face to face during pickups and drop-offs, so you’re a big part of the impression they have of our shop.

What you’ll be doing

• Moving customer vehicles around the shop as needed for technicians and estimators
• Picking up and delivering customer vehicles to and from their location
• Greeting customers during pickups and drop-offs with a friendly, professional attitude, and handing off keys and vehicles smoothly
• Traveling between our Burien and Des Moines shops as needed
• Pre-washing vehicles and helping the detailer get cars ready for customer delivery
• Vacuuming and cleaning vehicle interiors, including windows
• Helping maintain the parking lot, building and general facility
• Making sure all vehicles are secure and locked each night
• Helping with light scratch buffing and installing trim or cosmetic parts as needed
• Doing every task safely and responsibly

• Friendly, professional and comfortable interacting with customers
• Comfortable driving many types of vehicles for extended periods
• A reliable personal vehicle to travel between our Burien and Des Moines shops
• Strong attention to detail
• Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and stoop, bend, kneel and squat for extended periods
