Auxiliary Line and Yard Supervisor

What is an Auxiliary Line and Yard Supervisor responsible for?

An employee in this classification assigned to Line Operations is responsible for supervising employees engaged in main line train operations; Roadway Worker Protection of internal and external work crews; the safe and efficient operation of train transit service; and the enforcement of SDTI rules and regulations. Additional responsibilities will also include trouble-shooting, interfacing with area emergency response agencies and SD&IV Railroad operations personnel, and investigation of accidents involving light rail vehicles or SDTI non-revenue vehicles.

An employee in this classification assigned to Yard Operations is responsible for supervising employees engaged in yard operations; working in coordination with the Controller for the safe and efficient operation of non-revenue train movement within the yard, yard limits and Imperial Junction; and is responsible for the enforcement of SDTI rules and regulations. Additional responsibilities will also include trouble-shooting; interfacing with the LRV Maintenance Supervisor and SD&IV and SDNR Railroad operations personnel.

What MTS is looking for:

Must be a current, experienced Train Operator having successfully completed the required probationary period. Must satisfactorily complete and pass all required examinations.

High school diploma or a high school equivalency certificate required. Some previous supervisory experience is preferred.

Evaluation of Internal Applicants:

Internal applicants will be evaluated based on qualifications and eligibility, including a review of personnel records related to attendance and any disciplinary action assessed as result of rule and policy violations. Eligible applicants will be interviewed and must pass all applicable examinations.

Pay Rate: $42.13 per hour while working as an Auxiliary Line and Yard Supervisor
