Auxiliary Transportation Controller

What is an Auxiliary Transportation Controller responsible for?

Responsible for the efficient control and operation of the rail transit system. This is a professional traffic management position of moderately difficult nature requiring extensive supervisory capabilities and ability to exercise sound judgment during pressure situations.

The Controller is assigned to Central Control where information is received via telephone, radio, software based train Traffic Control System (TCS) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), and CCTV pertaining to rail operations, including such information as breakdowns, incidents, accidents, delays, other equipment failures, etc. This employee responds to such reports in an appropriate manner by personally directing the action of other employees or external agencies required to remedy or rectify the reported condition. The Controller will subsequently prepare appropriate reports, which include detailed information regarding such occurrence and action taken as a result of the same.

What MTS is looking for:

Must be a current, experienced Train Operator having successfully completed the required probationary period. Must satisfactorily complete and pass all required examinations.

High school diploma or a high school equivalency certificate required. Some previous supervisory experience is preferred.

Evaluation of Internal Applicants:

Internal applicants will be evaluated based on qualifications and eligibility, including a review of personnel records related to attendance and any disciplinary action assessed as result of rule and policy violations. Eligible applicants will be interviewed and must pass all applicable examinations.
