AVID Tutor (26-27)

Under the supervision of the classroom teacher, facilitate small group, student-led sessions leading to critical thinking, problem solving, and deeper content-area knowledge.
Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and direction to a small group of students as they use specific inquiry based strategies to help one another learn more about a particular subject
- Attend 16 hours of AVID Tutor Training annually
- Serve as a college role model to junior high and high school students
- Under the supervision of the classroom teacher grade items specific to the AVID tutorial process
- Collaborate with other tutors to devise effective strategies for student grouping
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled college student
- Strong academic skills
- Experience in advanced level high school coursework
- Ability to work well with others
