Job Title: AVP/ Institutional Sales
Reports to: VP/ MD, Head of Institutional Sales, China
Location: Shanghai
Who You’ll Work With:
You will be in the Sales team, together with colleagues from Marketing, Business Development, Investment Research, Product, and other departments. You will jointly drive business development and client acquisition for the mutual fund business institutional segment in China.
What You’ll Do:
- Business Development & Client Acquisition
- Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to grow institutional AUM (Assets Under Management) in China.
- Identify and target key institutional clients
- Build and maintain strong relationships with institutional investors, understanding their investment needs and positioning the firm’s products effectively.
- Sales & Relationship Management
- Lead end-to-end sales processes, from prospecting to closing mandates.
- Represent the firm in client meetings, roadshows, and industry events.
- Provide market insights and investment ideas to clients, acting as a trusted advisor.
- Market Intelligence & Strategy
- Monitor regulatory and market trends in China’s asset management industry.
- Collaborate with product and investment teams to tailor solutions for institutional clients.
- Provide feedback on client demand to influence product development.
- Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with investment, product, and compliance teams to ensure alignment with client needs and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with marketing to develop sales materials and presentations.
- Performance Tracking & Reporting
- Track sales pipeline, client interactions, and revenue growth.
- Provide regular updates to senior management on business development progress.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field
- Minimum 8-10 years of institutional sales experience in asset management, mutual funds, or wealth management, with a strong focus on China’s institutional market.
- Proven track record of successfully acquiring and managing institutional clients
- Existing network and relationships with key institutional investors in China.
- Strong sales and negotiation skills with the ability to close deals.
- Deep understanding of mutual funds and other investment products.
- Knowledge of China’s regulatory environment for asset management.
- Self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and able to work independently
