AWS Backend Developer
Summary
A 6-month contract (with likely extension) through IT consulting firm Dawn InfoTek, placing an AWS Backend Developer with a leading Canadian bank in a hybrid Toronto role (2 office days/week). Day-to-day work centers on building serverless, production-grade backend services and REST APIs with TypeScript, Node.js, and AWS services like Lambda, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, and API Gateway.

We are currently seeking a AWS Backend Developer to join our dynamic team and work with one of our client, a leading bank in Canada
Contract duration: 6 months with strong possibility of extension
Role type: Hybrid (2 days a week in office required - Toronto Downtown)
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and REST APIs using TypeScript and Node.js.
- Develop, deploy, and manage serverless applications using AWS Lambda.
- Build secure, scalable, highly available, and production-ready backend services on AWS.
- Design and implement event-driven and cloud-native solutions using AWS SQS, SNS, EventBridge, API Gateway, and related services.
- Develop clean, maintainable, well-tested, and production-ready code following modern software engineering practices.
- Integrate backend services with databases, external APIs, and other AWS services.
- Implement robust logging, monitoring, error handling, alerting, and automated testing.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards, architecture decisions, and development best practices.
- Collaborate closely with frontend developers, DevOps engineers, architects, and product teams.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues while continuously improving system performance, scalability, reliability, and security.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of backend software development experience with TypeScript — mandatory.
- Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and the Node.js ecosystem — mandatory.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud services — mandatory.
- Strong experience with AWS Lambda and serverless application development — mandatory.
- Proven experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and backend services.
- Strong understanding of backend architecture, distributed systems, scalability, and cloud-native application development.
- Experience working with databases such as DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar technologies.
- Strong understanding of AWS IAM, authentication, authorization, and API security.
- Experience with Git, automated testing, CI/CD, and modern software development practices.
- Strong understanding of clean code, SOLID principles, software engineering best practices, and code quality.
- Experience building and supporting production-grade applications in AWS environments.

- Experience designing and implementing microservices and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with Docker and containerized applications.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
