AWS Cloud-Native Backend Engineer (Java, Microservices)

IBM Consulting is seeking an Application Developer: AWS Cloud Backend Developer to design and build scalable, cloud-native applications on AWS. You’ll work in an Agile environment, delivering high-quality solutions and collaborating with architecture, platform, and DevOps teams.

Candidates should have strong Java development, Quarkus, microservices expertise, and experience with RESTful APIs, Kafka, and both SQL/NoSQL databases. IBM offers smart working and a broad benefits package.

Design and develop cloud-native applications on AWS. Develop scalable backend microservices based on 12-factor principles. Build data persistence layers using Oracle, PostgreSQL and MongoDB. Contribute to CI/CD processes and automated testing. Collaborate with DevOps and Agile teams to deliver cloud-native solutions. Ensure quality, security, and reliability of enterprise applications. Strong experience in Java development. Hands-on experience with Quarkus. Solid knowledge of Microservices architecture and distributed systems. Experience developing RESTful APIs and backend integrations. Experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures. Experience with relational databases, including Oracle and PostgreSQL, and PostgreSQL. Experience with NoSQL databases, particularly MongoDB. Good knowledge of AWS Cloud services and cloud-native development. Understanding of Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes or OpenShift. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices. Experience working in Agile delivery environments. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
