AWS Cloud Platform Engineer
Summary
Pontoon is hiring an AWS Cloud Platform Engineer on a 12-month contract (550 EUR/day) for its Dublin - Leopardstown team, 3 days per week in the office. The engineer designs, builds, and secures enterprise AWS cloud platforms for digital financial applications using Terraform, Kubernetes/EKS, Docker, CI/CD/GitOps, and observability tooling.

Requirements:- Years of experience in Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering.
- Years of hands-on AWS experience designing and supporting enterprise cloud environments.
- Strong experience building production-grade cloud infrastructure within regulated environments.
- Expertise in AWS services, cloud networking, security, governance, and identity management.
- Advanced knowledge of firewalls, DNS, load balancers, routing, proxies, and hybrid connectivity.
- Strong Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience.
- Experience with AWS Landing Zones, Multi-Account Architectures, and AWS Control Tower.
- Strong knowledge of IAM, KMS, encryption, and Zero Trust security principles.
- Hands-on Kubernetes/EKS and Docker experience.
- Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines and GitOps environments.
- Proficiency in Python, Go, Shell, or other scripting languages.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, Dynatrace, and AWS-native solutions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Preferred experience in Financial Services, Banking, FinTech, or other highly regulated environments.
- Multi-cloud exposure.
- Cloud cost optimization and FinOps experience.
- DevSecOps implementation experience.
- Open-source contributions or active participation in cloud engineering communities.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale cloud transformation programmes.
- Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available AWS cloud platforms.
- Develop and manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows.
- Partner with Engineering, Security, SRE, and Operations teams to deliver cloud-native solutions.
- Drive automation initiatives to improve platform stability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Champion DevSecOps practices by embedding security controls throughout the platform lifecycle.
- Design and support AWS networking solutions including VPCs, DNS, firewalls, load balancers, routing, and proxy services.
- Support containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes/EKS.
- Implement and maintain cloud security controls, IAM policies, encryption solutions, and governance frameworks.
- Contribute to observability and monitoring strategies using AWS-native and enterprise monitoring tools.
- Optimize cloud performance, resilience, and cost efficiency across large-scale AWS environments.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.
- Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and recommend innovative solutions.
